JURIES

The organizer nominates for each instrument (if needed for category) one international jury of 5-8 members, whose are experienced players/teachers of given instrument. The names of all jurors will be announced on the organizers website before the competition.  At the first meeting votes each jury the chairman.

The chairman and other jurors are obliged to acquaint with its terms before the competition starts and follow them during the competition.

The executive body of the jury is the secretary of jury (hereinafter referred to as the secretary). (S)he is responsible for the organisation of the competition in compliance with the competition terms, participates on all meetings of the jury without the right to vote and is tied up by their decisions.

The meetings of jury are managed by its chairman. Its plan is defined by the chairman in compliance with the competition terms and the competition daily schedule. The secretary provides that the results and the jury decisions are made public.

The jury listens to, considers and awards the performances of all competitors acquired to the competition according to the competition terms, part Competition Repertoire. They do not disturb the competition performance. In case of the performance exceeding of the time limit given by the organizer, the chairman of jury is allowed to end the competition performance.

The jury makes the decision strictly in their meetings. All questions are decided by the majority of the votes. In case of equality of votes, it is the chairman’s vote that decides.

The members of jury are obliged to participate on the jury meetings. The organizer’s deputies are allowed to be present to these meetings. All participants of the meetings must respect the confidentiality of the meetings and must keep its content secret.

The meetings are non-public.

Evaluation and awards of the competition performances

The jurors consider the competition performances objectively according to their best moral sense and special point criteria. The evaluation (in points) is non-public. The list of proceeding and not proceeding participiants with their point average will be made public.

The members of jury evaluate each competition performance on a scoring card from 1 point (the lowest) up to 25 (the highest score) in a written form. No division of point is allowed. All scoring cards, which are not complete, impossible to read or do not contain the signature of the juror are invalid and are taken off the evaluation procedure. In case that the juror writes down an incorrect number of points into the card, (s)he can cross the incorrect number out, write down the new number and must sign it including the note “corrected”. The corrections of the points are allowed before the submission of the scoring card only.

The member of jury submits the scoring cards to the secretary immediately after each period (morning, afternoon and evening part of the competition performances). The scoring cards submitted after the time given are invalid.

The member of jury must abstain from voting of the participant:

  • of those (s)he did not hear the competition performance completely
  • whose is (s)he a teacher
  • with whom (s)he has a close relation

In such a situation the juror hands in the scoring card with the written explanation on it, why (s)he does evaluate (absence, student/pupil, close relation).

The points from both rounds are count up.

Following to the end of the competition performances of each category, the secretary will make a list of scores, recalculate the averages (arithmetical means) and according to them will make the ranking in each instrument/category in separate. The highest and the lowest score of each participant is crossed out and in not involved in the calculation of the average – the only exception to this rule is a jury of 5 members. The evaluation of each member of jury is accessible to the other members of the jury.

After presentation of the 1st round ranking decides the jury those participiants who will progress into the 2nd round.  Usually 50% of the participiants from each category will progress into the 2nd round according to the pointing average.

After the 2nd round closes the jury total results of the competition. The result of score(points) is determinative for the ranking of the participants. The jury can decide with the agreement of the organizer to divide the awards among more participiants, when the scores are equal or the differences between are minimal.

If the performances of the competitors do not reach the level required, the jury decide whether it gives all the announced awards, or it does not have to give any of them, if it simultaneously states that the performances do not reach the usual artistic level of the competition for award giving. The results of competition are made public after final meeting of each jury.

All competitors, who have been awarded or given the honorable mention, will be given a diploma with their name and the award grade.

The winners of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize earn the title of “competition laureate”. The winner of each instrument who will gain the highest score in the competition will earn the title of “Absolute winner of the discipline”.
